WL Woes!!

It appears that the nagging issues with VO2WL repeater have not gone away.. 🙁

The problem with the consistent dropping PTT & horrible audio is still around… but only sometimes. After repairing/replacing some questionable network cabling in the VHF/UHF rack at the building, the problem seemed to have gone away and a number of long QSO’s through VO2WL without any problems backed up that theory…

Not So Fast Buddy!!! After almost 2 weeks of nearly flawless operation, the problem appeared again a few days ago, & has happened at least 4 times since. It is an intermittent problem and happens on both RF & digital Sides of the station, and when it does, it renders ALL stations connected to VO2WL virtually un-useable. The problem seems to just disappear after an unknown period of time and nothing shows up in any log files to indicate why it happens or why it disappears.

As a further test for any hardware issues with VO2WL, the station will be put into ‘Psuedo’ mode which disables all of the UHF RF side (Tx’er, Rx’er, sound interface, etc.) of the station. VO2WL will operate as a Hub only for the next week or so, with incoming connections on Allstarlink & Echolink as normal. For local RF access into VO2WL, you can use VO2LB (normally connected to The Canada Hub), which will be permanently connected only to VO2WL hub for this testing period. If you have problems connecting to VO2WL with allstar, try VO2LB (node 555424) as it is opened up for incoming as well.

VO2LMC status remains the same, with a very unreliable link between the club building and the mountain.

Please, if you observe VO2WL (or any of our repeaters/nodes) having a “Hissy Fit”, leave a comment below or contact me with a brief description & the time you observed it.

Updates will be forthcoming as the brain cells align and start making sense of the reliability issues VO2WL has had for the past couple of months. (For you non-geeks, that means “I have no friggin’ idea what’s going on down there, but stay tuned!” 🙂
